Obituary for Rosie Lee Fairley



Sister Rosie Lee (Ross) Fairley was born on March 14, 1947; daughter of the late Felton Daniels and Bobbie Randolph in Prentiss, MS. She departed life peacefully on Wednesday, January 01, 2020.

Sister Fairley received some education in Prentiss, MS before she relocated to Chicago, Illinois. She later returned home to Prentiss, MS, and soon after relocated to Slidell, LA where she began her career path as a Nurse Aide. She then relocated from Slidell, LA only to call Gulfport, MS her home. She carried her job title as a Nurse Aid and was employed by Driftwood Nursing Center of Gulfport, MS; and was also employed by Harrison County Road Department.

Sister Fairley was born into a Christian family following into the footsteps of her late grandmother Emma. She accepted Christ as her Savior on March 18, 1978. She became a member of Christian Missionary Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday School Superintendent and an Usher on the usher board under the leadership of the late Reverend Attel Coleman. She later moved her membership to Friendship Baptist Church with her children and grandchildren where she served as an Usher on the usher board, and Treasury under the leadership of the late Pastor James Day and the late Pastor Matthew Spikes. Sister Fairley was a faithful religious and spiritual servant of God, a loving mother, and a loving grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her father, Felton Daniels; mother, Bobbie Randolph; former husband, Willie James Fairley; brother, Charles Oatis; sister, Mary Ann Magee; and grandson, Marcus Warren Ross.

She leaves to cherish her memory eight children; Howard (Deidra) Ross of Killeen, TX; Homer Ross of Pensacola, FL; Russell Ross of Sharon, Pennsylvania; Minnie “Lisa” Ross, Gloria “Donna” Ross, Helen Ross McClain, Leonard (Takita) Ross, and Ellis Ross all of Gulfport, MS; Godson, Robert Lee Martin; seventeen grandsons including Tyrone Ross who she raised as her very own, fourteen grand-daughters, twenty-one great-grandchildren; one brother, Tommie (Channie) Oatis; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
