Sondra Kitchens

Sondra Kitchens was born on November 27, 1937, in Harlan, Iowa, and was raised in Shelby, Iowa. Gregarious and witty, Sondra had a wonderfully spirited personality. She was lovingly snarky and never hesitated to get a little “saucy” with her family and closest friends. She especially enjoyed exchanging playful banter with her granddaughter, Sarah.

Sondra was a devoted working mother who carefully arranged her work schedule around her son Jason’s school day so she could be home when he returned. Jason remembers his mother as consistently loving and supportive, while never being afraid to offer honest criticism when she believed it was necessary.

She expressed her love in many ways, including through the delicious sweet treats she prepared for her family. Her amazing chocolate chiffon pie was a special favorite of Jason’s and will remain one of the family’s most cherished memories.

In her leisure time, Sondra enjoyed playing bridge with her bridge group and sharing laughter and fellowship with friends. Above all, she treasured being a grandmother. One of her greatest blessings was having the opportunity to meet and spend time with her great-granddaughter before her passing.

Sondra will be lovingly remembered for her quick wit, spirited sense of humor, unwavering support, and deep devotion to her family. Her warm presence, playful banter, and unforgettable personality will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at 10:00 am, at Infinity Funeral Home Chapel.
