Generetta "Flossie" Nettles, 77, of Moss Point, Mississippi, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, after a brief battle with breast cancer. She departed this life peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family in Gautier, MS, in her son, Bennie, and daughter-in-law, Connie home
Born on September 19, 1948, in Moss Point, Mississippi, Flossie was the daughter of James D. Davis and Annie Mae Walker. She dedicated her life to her family and found her greatest joy in being a homemaker. Her home was always filled with love, laughter, and a warm meal.
While she was blessed with six children of her own, she opened her heart to many who lovingly came to know her as family. To know Flossie was to know unconditional love, generosity, selflessness, and a woman who always exemplified grace even in the most challenging times. To know her was simply to love her.
She was preceded in death by her father, James D. Davis; her mother, Annie Mae Walker; her brothers, Sherman Love and Larry Davis; and her beloved grandson, Michael A. Nettles Jr.
Flossie leaves behind a legacy of love that will live on through her longtime partner, Daniel McLemore; her children, James Nettles III, Mary Nettles, Michael A. Nettles, Sherman (April) Nettles, Bennie (Connie) Nettles, and Tarkilya (Donovial) Fountain; her stepchildren, Edward McLemore, Cora McLemore, and Jennifer Russ; siblings Sandra (Phillip) Eugene and Lillian (Paul) Maye; her bonus children, LaShawnda Wilson, Tyrone (Angelic) Johnson, Anecia (Carlos) Morris, and Maudie Lawson; her goddaughter, Keisha Davis; her devoted friend, Betty Harris; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, church family, and dear friends whose lives were forever touched by her love.
In the years leading up to her passing, Flossie was lovingly cared for by her family. Her care team consisted of two of her devoted granddaughters, Generetta L. Nettles and Mary C. Nettles; a devoted grandson, Bennie A. Nettles; and her devoted great-granddaughter, Tarkilya A. Cairl, who provided daily care and comfort throughout her breast cancer battle.
Their devotion allowed Flossie to spend her final days surrounded by the love of her family, just as she had spent her life surrounding them with hers.
Though her physical presence will be deeply missed, the love, strength, wisdom, and kindness Flossie shared will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Her memory will continue to be a blessing for generations to come.
