Obituary for Marcia Ann Vereen

Marcia Ann Vereen began her earthly journey in Biloxi, Mississippi on September 1, 1946, as the eldest child of Dorothy F. and Claude W. Vereen, Sr. Her life as believer was celebrated with baptism into the fellowship of First Missionary Baptist Church of Biloxi. She matriculated through the Biloxi School system earning a High School Diploma from the Historic M.F.Nichols High School. Upon graduation, Sister Marcia Vereen set forth on a sojourn through life by attending college in California and returning to her native Biloxi, MS, serving as a Teacher and in administrative capacity for Moore's Community House. This dedicated sister always made time for what was in the best interest of children in accordance with the Divine word of God found in Mark 10:14; "Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for such is the kingdom of God". After over 30 plus years of dedicated service, even in the face of adverse physical problems, Sister Marcia pressed on teaching and touching lives with her feisty disposition and firm love to make a difference. Though she may not have had any biological children, her legacy and love are cemented in the lives she touched and the children she mothered. On Monday, January 19, 2015, The Lord Almighty saw fit to retire Sister Marcia Ann Vereen from the Earthly realm of teaching and move her to Eternity. Sister Marcia Vereen was preceded in death by her parents Brother C.W. Vereen, Sr. and Sister Dorothy Faye Miller Vereen. Her fiery, firm, and faithful legacy will be missed by many; but the priceless memories of her legacy and love will be pronounced through her surviving siblings: Claudette Quinn Glenndale, AZ, Claude W. Vereen (Norma) Gulport, MS, Deborah C. Clark Biloxi, MS, Don C. Vereen (Marylin) Biloxi, MS, Kathleen M. Needham Las Vegas, NV Sandra Vereen Biloxi, MS, Diane H. Alexander (Mrytha) Biloxi, MS, Anthony C. Vereen (Irma) Pearland, TX, Michelle A. McBride (Anton) Biloxi, MS and Steven P. Vereen (Lori) Missouri City, TX. In addition to her surviving siblings, Sister Marcia Vereen leaves to cherish her life countless nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, countless friends, and community leaders.
