With heavy hearts and loving memories, we announce the passing of Janet Fletcher, who departed this life on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, at the age of 70.
Born Janet Stewart on November 6, 1955, to the late Arthur Stewart and Sylvia Houze, Janet experienced the loss of her biological father shortly after her birth. From infancy, she was lovingly raised by her mother and stepfather, the late Grady Houze, who embraced the role of father throughout her life. Growing up in Gulfport, Mississippi, Janet developed the values of love, kindness, and family that would remain central to her life.
Janet was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose warm personality and compassionate spirit made her a joy to be around. Known for her welcoming nature, she had a special way of making others feel comfortable, accepted, and appreciated. She was outspoken when she needed to be, yet always possessed an understanding heart and a genuine concern for the well-being of others.
Throughout her life, Janet found her greatest joy in the simple but meaningful moments shared with those she loved. She enjoyed baking cakes, spending time with family, and creating memories with the people closest to her. As a devoted homemaker, she took pride in her family and the love she shared with them.
Above all, Janet was a caring and supportive presence in the lives of those who knew her. Whether through a listening ear, a thoughtful conversation, or simply her pleasant company, she had a way of making people feel valued. Her legacy will be remembered not only through the family she leaves behind but also through the kindness she extended to others.
Janet was preceded in death by her biological father, Arthur Stewart; her mother, Sylvia Houze; her stepfather, Grady Houze, who raised her as his own; and her brother, Steve Houze.
She leaves to cherish her memory her only son, Victor Williams; two beloved grandchildren, Armani Williams and Carter Williams; her brothers, Willie Houze and Gradie Houze; her sisters, Sandra McCollom and Carolyn Thompson; along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Though her physical presence will be deeply missed, the love she shared, the kindness she showed, and the memories she created will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew her.
Janet Fletcher will be remembered as a woman who welcomed others with kindness, cared with compassion, and loved her family wholeheartedly.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2026, at 11:00 am, at Infinity Funeral Home Chapel.
