Obituary for Curtis Wayne Jackson



Mr. Curtis Wayne McDowell Jackson was born March 28, 1956, in Davenport, Iowa to Lemon McDowell and Ruby Chatman McDowell. Curtis was the oldest of ten children. Curtis confessed a hope in Christ at an early age. After moving to Toledo, Ohio, his mother re-married and Curtis asked to be adopted and that is when his name legally changed to Curtis Wayne Jackson.
Curtis attended high school in Toledo, Ohio, and college at Bowling Green University and received a degree in Radio Broadcasting. Curtis worked at various radio stations before joining the Army where he served for several years as a Nuclear Chemist at various duty stations and including two tours in Germany. He worked most of his life as a Chemist and Engineer in Denver, Colorado and in Arkansas. Curtis moved to Biloxi, MS in 2008 to be near his mother. He joined First Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Eric Dickey. Curtis loved singing in the choir when his health permitted.
One brother preceded him in death, Douglas James McDowell. He leaves to cherish his memory four children, Lashanda Castro, Lakisha Jackson, Curtis Jackson, Jr., and Nadine Sherelle Jackson. He also leaves his mother Ruby Jackson; five brothers, Harold McDowell, Lemon Bennett McDowell, Todd McDowell, Fredrick McDowell, and Victor Jackson; three sisters, Lenora McKenny, Nadine McDowell Dawkins, and Teresa Jackson; a very dear and devoted friend, Ruth Hale; four uncles, Gerry Chatman, Ray Watson, Paul Chatman, Keith Chatman; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Richmond August Funeral Home.
