Obituary for Carrie Bell Galloway Brown

Mrs. Carrie Bell Galloway Brown, a mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great, great, grandmother, great, great, great grandmother and avid church and community worker was called to God on May 10, 2011. She was born on September 8, 1908 in Latimer, MS, the second child of Mattie and Solomon Galloway. She was married to the late George Brown. Mrs. Carrie had the opportunity to witness the removal of the voting poll tax, ratification of women�s right to vote, the elimination of school segregation, passage of the civil rights act, space exploration, numerous scientific and medical advances, and the election of the first African American President of the United States. Mother Carrie was blessed to live a rich and rewarding life, she is survived by her 9 children � Mattie Walker, Gladys Daniels, Rosetta Crumbley, Vicie �Toni� Posey (George), Bertha Duvernay, Ben Brown (Ethel), Ina Jean Randall (Thomas), Doris Browne, and Johnnie E. Brown (Willa), 35 grandchildren, 73 great grandchildren, 28 great, great, grandchildren, and 3 great, great, great grandchildren, numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, and other relatives. Services will be held on Saturday, May 14 at Nance Temple Church of God in Christ, 710 Division St, Biloxi, MS. Viewing at 11 am, service at 12 noon with interment at Biloxi Cemetery. Services were entrusted to RICHMOND-AUGUST FUNERAL HOME, 189 Main Street, Biloxi, MS. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in her name, Carrie B. Brown, to Tougaloo College, 500 County Line Road, Tougaloo, MS 39530.
