Martin Hayes

Martin Luther Hayes, 77, a resident of Dothan, Alabama, passed away on June 23, 2025, at Mizell Memorial Hospital.

He was born in Enterprise, Alabama, on October 13, 1947, the Son of John Robert Hayes and Cassie Neal. Martin attended Hartford High School and graduated in 1966. Martin enlisted in the United States Air Force soon after graduating high school. He served in the military as a fireman and soon followed his passion for fixing machinery by becoming an aircraft mechanic. Martin was honorably discharged from the US military in 1988. Martin married Mary Hayes on September 21, 1970.

Martin spent his working career in California working as an aircraft mechanic for United Airlines. As an aircraft mechanic for the military and later for United Airlines allowed him to travel the world. He would often talk of his many experiences meeting people. Martin would always remember to call family and friends on birthdays, Mother’s Day, etc.

Martin, aka Boomer (his nickname when he played football for the military) was preceded in death by his mother, Cassie James; father, John Robert Hayes; and brother, Billy Jackson.

Martin is survived by his wife, Mary Hayes, brother, Kenneth James; sister, Yvonne Simmons; daughter, Tamiko and her husband, Mario Lloyd; daughter, Meoshi Hayes, daughter, Eleisha and her husband, Donald Redmond; and grandchildren; Patrick Hayes, Brittany Morrell, Alexander Morrell, Jaedon Silas, Donald Redmond, Donovan Redmond and a number of great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Friends may gather to pay their respects on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm at Infinity Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be at 1:30 pm at Biloxi National Cemetery.
