Vincent Anthony Perna, Jr. passed away on July 2, 2025, at the age of 73 in Gulfport, Mississippi. Born on September 25, 1951, in Middletown, New York, he lived a life marked by dedication, resilience, and love for his family.
A proud Vietnam veteran, Vince dedicated more than 26 years of his life to serving in the U.S. Navy, achieving the esteemed rank of Master Chief. His exemplary service was recognized with numerous accolades, including the National Defense Medal, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Coast Guard Unit Commendation, Recruiting Service Ribbon, Meritorious Unit Commendation, and the Meritorious Unit Medal. His steadfast commitment to duty and country defined his character and left an indelible mark on all who knew him.
Vince was a man of many qualities; he was known for his quick wit, stubbornness and unwavering protection of his family. In his post-military life, Vince transitioned to managing a bar, where he continued to serve others and make meaningful connections within his community. Vince relocated to the Mississippi Gulf Coast, where he enjoyed daily walks on the beach while picking up trash to help beautify the boardwalk and meeting with friends. When prompted, he would share his skill as a magician with children in the family. These skills were refined throughout his childhood and always assisted by his sister, Kathy, with the promise she would wear the sparkly bathing suit when performing professionally once he made it to the big time.
Vince is survived by two devoted children, Karrie (Tom) Beaudry and Vincent Perna, Jr. He is also remembered with love by his siblings: Dawn (Ken) Gray, Kathryn (John) Bendlin, Mary (Don) Wilkins, and sister-in-law, Sandy Perna. He leaves behind four beautiful grandchildren and one great grandchild. His extended family also includes many loving nieces and nephews who will forever hold him in their hearts.
Vince was predeceased by his wife of 32 years, Dona K. Perna, parents, Vincent Sr. and Mary Perna, and a brother, Joseph Perna.
Vince’s kindness, support, and protective nature extended beyond his immediate family, as he was a steadfast friend and confidant to many. The warmth he brought to every interaction will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered.
As we celebrate the life of Vincent Anthony Perna, Jr., we honor a man who dedicated himself to his family, his country, and his community. His legacy will live on through the memories he created and the love he imparted on those fortunate enough to know him.
