James Larry Thompson, born on November 10, 1950, in Elizabeth, Louisiana, departed this life on May 31, 2025, in Gulfport, Mississippi. He leaves behind a legacy filled with joy, adventure, and a deep commitment to his faith and community.
James dedicated much of his professional life to the art of sales, where his charismatic personality shone brightly. He was known among friends and colleagues for his free-spirited and fun-loving nature, earning the title of life of the party. His adventurous spirit often led him on travels, exploring new places and creating memories that he cherished deeply.
An avid lover of fast cars and the music of Elvis Presley, James embraced life with energy that inspired those around him. He was also very involved in the singles ministry at Discovery Church, where he was a faithful member and found profound fulfillment in his service to others. His contributions to the church community were greatly appreciated, leaving a lasting impact on many lives.
James is survived by his beloved sister, Kathy (Thomas) Bruce, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews who will miss him dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ken and Ronnie Thompson, and by his sister Evelyn Strother and brother Deryl Cole.
A memorial service to honor James's life and legacy will be held on June 14, 2025, at Discovery Church located at 2601 17th Ave, Gulfport, MS 39501. The service will begin at 10:00 AM, providing a space for family and friends to gather, share memories, and celebrate the remarkable life of a truly special individual.
James Larry Thompson will be remembered not only for his love of adventure and music but for the warmth he brought to the lives of those who were fortunate enough to know him. His spirit will continue to resonate in the hearts of everyone touched by his kindness and zest for life.
