Willie Ray Sherman, age 67, a resident of Hurley, MS, passed away 11/02/2023 at his home surrounded by loved ones.
He was born in Lucedale, MS, on 2/25/1956, son of James Edward Sherman and Dorothy Mae Beasley Sherman.
Willie attended high school at East Central High School. After high school he turned to the ministry. He was a man of God and was a pastor for the United Methodist church in Stringer and Taylorsville, and Mt Olive and Ovett, MS. He later worked in Industrial Construction and worked in many different locations across this country. He met and made many friends wherever he was located. His passion and love were his family, the Pascagoula River Swamp, and hunting and fishing. He adored his family and was always ready to lend a helping hand. He was a member of the Magnolia Springs Assembly of God Church.
He was married to Kathy Sherman on May 1, 2010, and added to his already extended family.
He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Dorothy Sherman, brothers Eddie Sherman, Lynn Sherman, JP Sherman, sister Dorothy Jean Hatcher, niece Kally Slider and Christy Sherman, and stepdaughter Christine Ashton.
Survivors include his wife Kathy Sherman, sibling Donna (Melroy) Slider, son Christopher (Andrea) Sherman, daughter Katrina (Casey) Yates, stepson Travis (Ashley) Dunsford, Christopher Ashton, and stepdaughter Michell Glazier, and his grandchildren, Alex Hardwick, Bella Sherman, Tanner Sherman, Claire Yates, Collin Yates, Jordan Rosenbohm, Morgan Rosenbohm, and a host of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm on Wednesday November 8th, 2023, at Magnolia Springs Assembly of God, 7300 Campground Road, Moss Point, MS 39562.
Funeral Services will be held at 10 am on Thursday the 9, 2023 at Magnolia Springs Assembly of God, 7300 Campground Road, Moss Point, MS 39562 with graveside services to follow at Carter Cemetery where he will be laid to rest beside his parents.
