Vincent Edward Alford

Vincent Edward Alford, age 80, a resident of Defuniak Springs, Florida, passed away on July 04, 2026, at his home.

He was born in East Orange, New Jersey on October 18, 1945. The son of Gertrude and Edward Alford. Vincent attended East Orange public schools.

Vincent spent his working career in the United States Army, serving two tours in the Vietnam war, where he received numerous medals and accommodations including the Purple Heart, and honorable discharge after serving 20 years. He then went on to retire again with the Portsmouth Naval shipyard as police force in Portsmouth, Virginia.

Vincent or Al as his work friends would call him is preceded in death by his parents Gertrude and Edward Alford.

Vincent is survived by his sister Vivian Jarvis, her sons, Jason Stridiron, Donnie and Kent Jarvis. He is also survived by his wife Chong Alford of 57 years of marriage., His son George Alford, Daughter Sugee Stone, spouse Eric Stone, daughters Tiffany Garris, spouse, Shawn Garris, Samantha Rodrigues, spouse, Roberto Rodrigues, Stephanie Marvel spouse, Michael Marvel, Kira Garcia, spouse Dillan Garcia.

Vincent is also survived by his grandchildren, Aiden Garris, Olivia Garris, Legend Melvin, Emma Pecua, Josie Marvel, Charles Rodrigues, Robert Rodrigues, Vincent Rodrigues, David Rodrigues, Sophia Rodrigues, Timothy Rodrigues, and a host of other family, and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at Infinity Church of Biloxi, at 11:00 am (Visitation will start at 10:00 am) with graveside services at Biloxi National Cemetery with full honors.
