Ms. Vermel (Cook) Coon, was born February 18, 1930, to Herbert Joyce and Olivia Cook in Pascagoula, MS. She departed this life on Friday, May 29, 2020, at her home surrounded by her loved ones. Vermel was employed at the Red Carpet Dinner at Keesler Air Force Base. She later worked at Howard Memorial Hospital in the surgery department for several years. After her retirement, she dutifully served as a senior citizen companion for The District. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, spending time with her family, bingo, and socializing with friends at the Links Social Club. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Jacqueline Amos and Janice Bennett; one daughter, Elena Beverly; niece, Camilla Jackson. She leaves to cherish her memory one daughter, Sylvia Pearson; three grand-children, LaTrenda, Tawana, and Jermaine; three great-grandchildren, LaVontae, Jasmine, and Lauren; and one great-great-grandchild, Aaliyah; niece, Lucille; great-nephews, Frank and DeCarlo; and a host of cousins. A special thanks to Mr. Randy, Ms. Orelia, all caregivers, friends, and pastors.
