Ronald Louis Woodard, Sr. peacefully passed away on Sunday, February 8, 2026, at Gulfport Memorial Hospital. Affectionately known as “Ron” to his friends and neighbors, he was a man whose warm spirit and kind heart left a lasting impact on all who knew him.
Ronald was preceded in death by his father, Buford Woodard; his mother, Daisy Harris; his son, DeShay Crutcher; and his brothers, Nathaniel and Rickie Williams.
Ronald leaves to cherish his loving memory his son, Ronald Louis Woodard, Jr. (Cicely Woodard); his former wife, Darlene Woodard; and his beloved grandchildren, Jonathan Ronald Eugene Woodard and Joseph Charles Woodard.
He is also survived by his siblings, Albert Williams, Freddie Dunlap, and Clarence Hill; his sisters, including his twin sister, Rosalyn (Eugene Jr.) McKissack, Vickie McKissack, and Carolyn Harris; and his cherished niece and nephew, Kim McKissack, Nikki McKissack, and Derrick McKissack.
Ron proudly served his country in the United States Army, specializing in Light Weapons Infantry. He completed a short stint in Vietnam and was awarded several military honors in recognition of his service, including the Marksman Badge with Rifle Bar, the National Defense Service Medal, and the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal. He was honorably discharged in 1973.
Following his military service, Ronald worked in a hardware store and served in various other capacities throughout his life.
Born in Nashville, Tennessee, Ronald attended Hillwood High School. He was a man of faith who loved the Lord and was baptized at Mt. Nebo Baptist Church.
Ronald will be remembered for his humor, his kindness, and his ability to captivate everyone around him with his gift for storytelling. His memory will live on through the lives he touched and the love he shared with family and friends.
Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at 10:00 am, at Biloxi National Cemetery.
