Ronald “Ronnie” Joseph Whitson was born in Biloxi, MS on February 2, 1952 Keesler AFB Hospital to the late Mrs. Grunave “Chink” W. Johnson. On April 1, 2016 the Lord called him home. You have fought the good fight. Servant well done. Ronnie attended OMS Catholic School and A.E. Perkins Elementary School in Biloxi. He also attended M.F. Nicholas Jr. and Senior High School and graduated from Biloxi Sr. High School in 1970. Upon graduation, Ronnie attended Southern University in Baton Rouge, LA, where he graduated in 1973 with a Bachelor Degree in Business Management. He would go on to manage one of the family businesses where he retired as Night Club Owner of the Blue Note. After retirement, Ronnie would spend his time enjoying his hobbies, fishing and traveling. He was also involved in local and civic issues pertaining to his community, Ward 2. You could normally find him sitting under the “Tree of Wisdom” with his close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Grunave “Chink” Johnson and Willie Johnson; his brother, James Whitson; paternal and maternal grandparents; father-in-law, Andrew Singleton, Jr.; and sister-in-law Deborah Dolye. Ronnie leaves to cherish his precious memories his loving wife, Sharon L. Whitson; one sister, Linda W. Price of Biloxi, MS; two daughters Tamelia Bender and Tamica Bender, both of Poplarville, MS; 2 sons, Aaron J. Wiley of Poplarville, MS, and Ronald J. Lewis of Oklahoma; one grandson, Preston James Wiley; two daughters he inherited, Mikki S. Mims of Augusta, GA, and Fran (Otis) Gates of Biloxi, MS; his mother-in-law, Myrcite M. Singleton; a brother-in-law, Andrew (Kejuana) Singleton, III of Savanna, GA; a sister-in-law, Angela Singleton; along with a host of nieces, nephews and many friends. Visitation for Mr. Ronald J. Whitson will be held from 10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon, Saturday, April 9, 2016, with Mass at 12:00 Noon at Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church, 803 Division Street, Biloxi, MS. RICHMOND-AUGUST FUNERAL HOME has been entrusted with the care of Mr. Ronald J. Whitson. Inquiries: 228-436-6722.
