Rodell Williams

Rodell "Door Shaker" Williams born on April 16, 1946 to Curtis (Skipper) and Arcola Williams. Rodell united with South Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Prentiss, Mississippi at an early age. As a youth he relocated to Gulfport, Mississippi where he attended the Gulfport Public Schools. Rodell was united in holy matrimony with Esterine Randolph on December 9, 1969; this union was blessed with four daughters. Rodell was employed as a Long Shoreman at the Gulfport Pier, where he worked with great dedication until his retirement. Mr. Rodell Williams was granted his angel wings on May 31, 2014. His final days were spent surrounded by family and friends that "Door Shaker" had touched in some way throughout his very memorable life. Rodells life would seem too short by many, but those who were touched by him understood that the quality of existence far exceed the quantity of time in which one lives. His gentle smile, kind ways, and giving heart brought so much joy to our family. He could spend hours sitting in his favorite recliner chair, while talking to or cuddling a grandchild or watching one of his favorite ball games. He enjoyed music especially the oldies that his sister would send him from Chicago. He enjoyed his family and looked forward to The Big Family Reunion each year. "Door Shaker" leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife of 45 years; Esterine Williams; three daughters; Kimbley (Bobby) Carswell, Sr., Tabatha (James) Ware, April Powell; Sisters; Sybil (Raymond) Reddick; Lottie (ML); Diane (Kermit); Faye (James); Mildred; Shirley, and Gail; Sister-N-Law; Elizabeth Williams-Expose; Brothers; Perry; Dennis, and Dexter.; Grandchildren; Antonio McCraven, Jr., Alexas Williams; DeCarlos Williams, Bobby Carswell, Jr., Brandon Carswell, Ikenna Ware, and Aubra Lizana; 12 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends. Funeral services will be held at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Gulfport, MS, Saturday, June 7, 2014 at 11am with visitation one hour prior. The family of Mr. Rodell Williams has entrusted his care to the professional staff of RICHMOND-AUGUST FUNERAL HOME.
