Raymond H. Lindsey

June 5, 1932 — October 12, 2022

Raymond Harold Lindsey, 90, a resident of Gulfport, Mississippi, passed away, on October 12, 2022, in Dallas, Texas from natural causes.

He was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on June 5, 1932, the Son of Arthur and Edna Drew Lindsey. Raymond joined the Air Force at a young age and achieved the rank of Staff Sargent.  Raymond was married to Essie Mae Coleman for 48 years.

Raymond served in the Air Force for 20 years.  After his retirement from the military, he continued to work in various occupations as well as volunteered at his church and the local hospital in Gulfport, Mississippi, and the VA Hospital in Biloxi, Mississippi for many years.

Raymond was preceded in death by his wife, Essie Mae, his grandchildren, Lindsey and Lewis Best along with his siblings, Ernest, Melvin, Helen Delores, and Myrtle.

Raymond is survived by his children, Tola Black and Raymond Best, his godchildren, LaShonda James, Diane Lindsey and Danielle Lindsey Esco, his grandchildren, Audrey Nicole Nida-Best, Harold, and Quintin Best, along with other Nephews, Nieces, Cousins, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Raymond will be held on Friday, October 28th at 11:00 am at the Greater Mount Olive Baptist Church in Gulfport, MS.  Interment will be at the National Cemetery in Biloxi, Mississippi.
