On July 21, 2021, Sister Mattie J. Madison answered the call of her creator and was accompanied by angels to join her beloved husband Martin Madison and her son Keith. She was born on May 12, 1934, to Simmie Jones and Kizzie McGruder.
She met the love of her life Martin, and they were married on August 5, 1958. To this union, they had one biological son. However, she adopted many people as her children and loved them as only a mother could.
Mrs. Madison, worked for many years at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, MS where she touched the lives of many young airmen through her testimony. She always opened her home during holiday time to all she met. One of her many passions in life was fishing and gardening, watching the Los Angeles Lakers and she would never miss a chance to talk about the game.
If you were ever in need Mrs. Madison would always ask, how can I help. Her mission on Earth was helping people and she did this not out of obligation, but because of who she was. This is part of her legacy she is leaving with her Church Mission Sisters.
Mrs. Madison served faithfully at Macedonia Missionary Baptist in Ocean Springs, MS., even during failing health she was faithful to her church. She was the epitome of service and was Past President for Senior Missions for MS State Convention at Sophia Sutton, Shiloh District Association, and Past President for Ocean Springs Church Women. She was also the advisor for the Mission Department at her church. Mrs. Madison was the driving force for outreach, and she carried out the Great Commission by faithfully serving for over 20 years as the leader of the Ocean Springs Nursing Home Ministry. Mrs. Madison's service to the church was immeasurable she was a Deaconess, Sunday School Student, Evangelism Team Member, Bible Study student, a faithful Usher, and a member of the United Usher Board.
