Lucille attended Leighton Training School Alabama and Graduated in 1951. She then attended Alabama A&M University. In March of 1955, she joined the Order of Eastern Star and remained a member until her recent death. 1958 was a good year for Lucille, she moved from Alabama to Los Angeles California with her brother Vera “Lee”, (deceased). In August of 1960, while working in the downtown Los Angeles Sewing district, she met, fell in love, and later married Eurick Robert L. Thomas. To this union was born three beautiful children, Yolanda Thomas Dewgarde, Eurick “Donny” Thomas Jr., and Laufele Thomas. Lucille spent over 20 years employed with the Los Angeles Unified School District, working at numerous schools throughout the county. A committed follower of Christ, Lucille became a member of Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church (70’s to present). She participated in community outreaches such as holiday food-drives. She volunteered monthly with St. John Baptist Church, providing food to the needy. During her last 3 years of life, in declining health, she moved to Mississippi with her daughter and family; she attended Northside AOG Church. She remained a servant of Christ to the very end: a regular at services and Bible study and a spiritual mother to young believers. She helped yearly in the ministry of sharing the Gospel to Mardi Gras parade attendees. Lucille, lovingly known as "MaDear" was preceded in death by her husband, Eurick Robert Thomas; one sister Richella Brown; two brothers Vera “Lee” White and Andrew “Jackie-boy” Pearsall; one grandson David Thomas; one niece Revonda Pearsall; and one nephew Ralph White.
