Joshua Jessie

Mr. Joshua Jessie, 91, of Ocean Springs, MS was born, December 31, 1921 in Vinega Bend, AL. A World War II Veteran, Joshua was known for his giving nature. He was employed with Ingalls Shipbuilding for thirty-eight years, the Ocean Springs Police Reserve Department for twenty-five years, and the Jackson County Sheriff�s Department for nine years. Joshua enjoyed fishing, hunting and being a mentor to all who knew him. He was known to care for the elderly and less fortunate and yearly gave Thanksgiving baskets to those in need. Joshua was preceded in death by his wife, Gertrude Jessie; son, George F. Jessie, two sisters, Pearlie Harris and Stella Brooks, and two brothers, Isaac Jessie and David Jessie. He leaves to cherish his memory, four daughters, Monique Jessie, Loretta Sullivan, Rossie Ann Williams, and Marylyn Melder; devoted nephews, Toni Harris, Percy Harris, Carnell Dixon and John Dixon; nieces, Stella Reese, Charline Powe, Barabara Dixon, Yolanda Dixon and Olivia Lomax; a devoted sister-in-law, Lillie (Willie) Dixon, god-daugter, Tangela Fairley and very special friends, Clara Ramsey, Elnora Reddix, Geraldine Baker, Larry Woodard, Earl Allen, Damas Shockley, Benjamin Daniels. Services for Mr. Joshua Jessie will be held Monday, April 15, 2013 at Macedonia Baptist Church - 1702 Weed Street, Ocean Springs, MS. Visitation will be from 10-11AM with service at 11AM. The family of Mr. Joshua Jessie has entrusted his care to the professional staff of RICHMOND-AUGUST FUNERAL HOME.
