1949 Grover 2026

Grover Benjamin Stroble

May 15, 1949 — January 27, 2026

Grover Benjamin “Ben” Stroble was born on May 15, 1949, in Summerville, South Carolina, to the late Grover Stephen Stroble and Louise Syfrett Stroble. Known to family and friends simply as Ben, he lived a life defined by kindness, creativity, service, and an unmistakable ability to connect with others.

Ben was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 29 years, Vickie, whose love and memory remained a constant presence in his life.

A proud United States military veteran, Ben served honorably in the Vietnam War, where he was wounded in service and awarded the Purple Heart. His military service reflected his courage, sacrifice, and dedication to his country.

Following his military service, Ben built a long and respected career as an electronics technician, working more than 30 years at the Charleston Naval Shipyard in Charleston, South Carolina, and later at Ingalls Shipyard in Pascagoula, Mississippi. He served as a government contractor through the shipyards and took great pride in his work and craftsmanship.

In his personal time, Ben found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He enjoyed playing casino games—especially slot machines—with Treasure Bay being his favorite casino. He was also a gifted and creative craftsman, spending hours making copper trees, papier-mache animals, and papier-mache hot air balloons, each piece reflecting his imagination and patience.

Ben’s personality was one of his greatest gifts. He never met a stranger, loved to talk with anyone, and was always willing to lend a helping hand if he could. His outgoing nature, generosity, and warmth left a lasting impression on everyone he encountered.

One of Ben’s greatest joys was his dog, Lucky, who was more like a baby to him than a pet. They enjoyed long walks together, and Lucky was lovingly spoiled with treats and affection. These moments remain among the most treasured memories of Ben’s life.

He leaves to cherish his memory his children, Patricia Staton, Benjamin Stroble, and Caitlin Stroble; his grandchildren, Dalton Mattina, Jayce Morgan, and many other beloved grandchildren; along with extended family, friends, and fellow veterans who will forever remember his friendly spirit, creative heart, and willingness to help others.

Grover Benjamin “Ben” Stroble will be deeply missed, but his legacy of service, kindness, and love will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Infinity Funeral Home extends our sincere condolences to the family of Mr. Grover "Ben" Stroble as they honor his life and legacy.
