She was born in Carthage, MS on March 17, 1941, the daughter of Ossie and Arlester Gray. Ray attended Piney Woods. Ray was married to Eddie on February 2, 1981. Ray spent her working career being a head cook at Richburg Cafe working in the restaurant business and later becoming a domestic worker where she had her own home cleaning service. She volunteered numerous hours of her time helping with different fundraisers for her grandchildren. Her hobby was gardening, she was a real live green thumb. Every plant she planted blossomed with life. She was also devoted to her church service where she was a member of the Little Rock Baptist Church Usher Board. Ray was preceded in death by Eddie Brown; four brothers, Austin “Funny” Gray, James Douglas Gray, Willis Gray, Ivory Gray; and one granddaughter, Alisa Dedeaux, one great-great-grandson, Kyree Dedeaux. Ray is survived by; two brothers, Ollie Earl Harris, Las Vegas NV, Willie Earl(Ellen) Gray of Carthage, MS, and Four sisters, Kathleen Gray Hughes, Carthage MS, Rachel (Marshall )Gray Gallant, Madison Wisconsin, Queen McGhee; two children, Beverly Ray (Jerry) Chester Ware and Barry Alphonso (Arita) Chester; five grandchildren, Kim (Cedric) Chester, Terrance (Crystal) Anderson, Barry (Sherry)Chester Jr, and Lorenzo (Sandy) Chester; fourteen great-grandchildren, Andrea Morgan, Angela Carter, Amarion Anderson, Desiree Anderson, Audrina Chester, Gordon Chester, Jeremiah Chester, Ema Chester, Yakira Caffrey, Yakirme Dedeaux, Yakayla Dedeaux, Yaniesha Dedeaux, Yakiesha Dedeaux, Yakwon Dedeaux and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 21, 2021, at 2:00 pm, at Little Rock Missionary Baptist Church. Visitation will start at 1:00 pm.
