Curtis Denson Knight, Sr. was born January 4, 1930. He was the oldest of seven children born to the union of the late Hayward and Willie Mae Knight in So So, Mississippi. He accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, So So,Mississippi. After graduating high school, he joined the United States Army where he served his country for 3 years. After his military service he moved to Gulfport, Mississippi where he met and married his loving wife of 56 years, Marguerite Knight, who he affectionally referred to as �Pretty Marguerite�. Curtis and Marguerite were blessed with 5 children: Lawrence (Tony), Ray, Lydia, Curtis, Jr. and Tawana. Mr. Knight was actively involved in Church and Community activities before his illness. He was ordained a Deacon in 1974, and served faithfully until his illness. The Knights organized the Coastal Aires Gospel Singers in 1996. He was a member of Mount Olive Lodge #83, Brilliant Star Chapter 416, Order of Eastern Star and Bucket Club. He was preceded in death by his parents Hayward and Willie Mae Knight, two brothers: Eartis Knight and Hayward Knight, Jr., two Sons: Lawrence (Tony) and Curtis Knight, Jr., one sister-in-law Bernice Knight, and nephew Eartis Andre Knight. He leaves to cherish his wife Marguerite Knight; two sons: Ray (Linda) Knight; Akil (Kim) Knight. Two daughters: Lydia (Anthony) Leggett and Tawana (Luther) Banks. One uncle: Charlie (Mary) Ducksworth, Four sisters: Anna (Robert) Cook, Audrey Conerly, Sarah Ford, and Grace (Ted) Martin. Nine grandchildren: Akil(Kim), Raynoid (Shamika), Ray, Tycolby, Ashleigh, Rashune, Rashael, Luther, and Tyler. Six great-grandchildren: Anthony, Yahti, Avery, Jaden, Sebastian, and Kristyn. He also leaves to cherish is memory a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. The family of Mr. Curtis Knight has entrusted the care of their loved one to the professional staff of RICHMOND-AUGUST FUNERAL HOME.
