Corita Johnson

Corita Staples Johnson was born on June 11, 1930 to Octavia Tools and Walter Staples. She was joined in matrimony to James Johnson and this union lasted for 60 years. Corita attended Our Mother of Sorrows and was an active member of Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church. Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, daughter Donna Johnson and five siblings: Evelyn Wynn, Inez Bradford, Gloria Adams, Rudolph Staples and Kirby Staples. She is survived by her children: Wanda Jackson, Larry Johnson, Sheryl Jones, Kenneth Johnson, Denise Bovastro, and Kimberly Kennedy; sisters, Althea Embry and Verdell Jones and brother, Henry Mack. Survivors also include 11 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Services will be held Thursday, June 20, 2013 at Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church. Visitation from 10:00-10:45am, with Mass beginning at 11:00am. The family of Mrs. Corita Staples Johnson has entrusted care of their loved one to the professional staff of RICHMOND-AUGUST FUNERAL HOME.
