Colton Nathaniel Zane Jones 28, was born on July 16, 1988 in Gulfport, Mississippi, he departed this life on July 3, 2017 in Moss Point, Mississippi.
Colton attended Gulfport Public Schools, where he was in the Gifted Program and an honor student. He graduated with honors from Gulfport High School in 2006.
Colton was a member of Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church, Gulfport, MS. He was better known as “Coda Jay”. He loved sports, video games and rap music. Colton composed several songs and poems. He loved to dress in sport attire with tennis shoes. He was well known, loved and understood by everyone in the community.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Earnestine Harris; paternal grandparents, Samuel Tart, Sr. and Annie M. Tart; and two uncles, Davey Harris & Samuel Tart, Jr.
Colton leaves to cherish his memory his mother, Nataline Harris-Jones of Gulfport, MS; three sisters, Mary Harris & Niiya Tart of Gulfport, MS and Natasha Tart, Albany, NY; and one brother Robert Jones, Gulfport, MS; his father, John Tart of Gulfport, MS; three aunts, Sandra (Lenn) Wyche, Denette Harris, Gayle Tart all of Gulfport, MS; one uncle, Norman (Betty) Harris; two nieces, Salah Harris & Shanteria Preston, both of Gulfport, MS; two nephews, Terry Preston, Gulfport, MS and William Steele, Albany, NY; one god sister, Niokie (Myron) Cole; and a host of relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 15, 2017, at 11:00 AM, at Morning Star Baptist Church, 2050 Thornton Avenue, Gulfport, MS 39501, with visitation at 10:00 AM.
