Clara Mae Payton

Sister Clara Mae Payton, a kind, gentle and direct woman was called home to rest on Monday, August 8, 2016. Clara was born on March 21, 1938. She was a native of the Greenhead community and a member of Good Hope Baptist Church prior to moving to Jackson, MS, where she departed this earthly life to eternal life with her heavenly Father. Clara was preceded in death by her parents, Grant and Octavia Payton; seven brothers, Willie Lee Payton, Silas Payton, Vaurice Payton, Namon Payton, Grant Payton, Jr., John W. Payton and Herman Payton, Sr.; seven sisters, Celeste Ramsey, Georgia Fairley, Sara Ann Payton, Parshenia Payton, Nancy Lee Redmon, Octavia Horne, and Rose Mary Wilson. She leaves to cherish her memory one brother, Rev. Kenneth R. (Mina) Payton of Hollis, New York; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
