Betty Lee Spears, a beloved member of the Biloxi community, passed away peacefully on August 9, 2025, in Pascagoula, Mississippi, with her family by her side. Born on June 3, 1941, in Biloxi, Mississippi, to the late Elliott and Marguerite Spears. She was a graduate of Our Mother of Sorrows School. Betty retired from Keesler Air Force Base lodging, holding the position of Senior Supervisor for over 30 years, receiving numerous awards for her outstanding performance.
Betty's life was marked by her unwavering dedication to her family and her deep-rooted connections within her community. Family gatherings were a cherished time for Betty. She loved playing bingo, collecting angels, and watching her masses daily on EWTN. Betty also loved every moment with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, finding her greatest joy in their laughter, stories, and the special memories they created together.
A devoted member of Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church, Betty's faith was central to her life. She often participated in church activities and found solace within its community. Her commitment to service and compassion for others left a lasting impact on those around her. She was a member of the Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament and the Knights of Peter Claver Ladies Auxiliary.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Elliott and Marguerite Spears, her beloved daughter Alisia Spears, and three sisters: June Straight, Marietta Sims, and Grace Carroll. Six brothers: Elliott Spears Jr., Robert Spears, Tony Spears, Nicholas Spears, Michael Spears, and Patrick Spears. Left to cherish her memories; her daughter Marguerite Mayfield, her granddaughters; Christina Mayfield and Jennifer Mayfield, Two great grandchildren; Alisia-Marie Jenkins and Brees Hopson, Two sisters; Marguerite Magee and Bernadette Warrick, Two Brothers Ralph Spears Sr. and Joseph Spears shared a special bond with her beloved, Godchildren, nieces and nephews and treasured the love of her great nieces and great nephews.
Betty will be profoundly missed by those who had the privilege of knowing her, as she leaves behind a rich legacy of love and compassion.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Betty’s life at Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church, located at 803 Division St., Biloxi, MS, 39530. A Visitation with Family will be held on August 12, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 10:30 AM, followed by a Rosary at 10:30 AM. A Mass will commence at 11:00 AM, allowing all who knew her to pay their respects and honor her memory.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church in Biloxi, MS, or for Mass intentions in memory of Betty Spears.
