Belinda M. Thurmon

Belinda Mae Thurmon, 70, a resident of Ocean Springs, MS, passed away, June 11, 2021, in D’Iberville, MS. She was born in Biloxi, MS, on February 14, 1951, the daughter of Donald and Laura Washington Sr. Belinda attended Nichols High School. She united in marriage to Sammie Lee Thurmon on June 24, 1995. Belinda spent her days caring for others and enjoying life to the fullest. She volunteered with Gulf Coast Industries and in her later years, she enjoyed attending the Ocean Springs Senior Citizen Center where she continued to help others. Belinda knew how to have a good time and always invited others to the party. She loved music, dancing, and eating popcorn, and her favorite saying "Bless Her Heart". Her greatest love was her family and friends. She never met a stranger or anyone she was not related to. Her legacy of love lives on in those who affectionally called her Mama, Granny, Sissy, and Auntie Ninny. Belinda was preceded in death by her husband: Sammie Thurmon; parents: Donald and Laura Washington Sr.; two brothers: Donald “Duck” Washington Jr. and Clark Washington; one sister: Joyce Madden; and one brother-in-law: Darius “Dino” Thurmon. Belinda is survived by one daughter: Yolanda Green (Gregory); three grandchildren: Courtney Green (Andrew), Gregory Green Jr., and Donald Green; one sister: Darnell Moore (Jeff); one aunt: Estelle Johnson (Milton); five sisters-in-law: Patricia McCormick, Sharon Payton, Alderine Payton, Esther Faye Payton, and Alicia Benson; five brothers-in-law: Richard Thurmon, Herman Payton, Jr., Michael Dean Payton, Zachary Payton, and Shawn Payton; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Funeral service for Belinda M. Thurmon will be held on Wednesday, June 16, 2021 at 11:00 am at Infinity Funeral Service. Visitation will start at 10:00 am.
