Alma Jean Jones-Lewis, 64, a resident of Gulfport, MS passed away, Sunday, March 21, 2021, in Wiggins, MS. She was born in Gulfport, July 6, 1956, to Mrs. Mary Alice Broomfield, her adoptive father, Mr. Albert Broomfield, and her biological father, Jimmie Ratcliff. Alma, known as Wankie to family and friends, graduated from Harrison Central High School and received an Associates's Degree from Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College. She was previously married to Robert Earl Culberson and Donald Jones. She married Robert Earl Lewis in October of 1996. Alma served for many years in the US Army before starting her career in the newspaper business. She worked as a Classified Ads Specialist at the Dallas Morning News and later as a Classified Ads Specialist then Library Specialist at The Sun Herald in Gulfport, MS. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandbabies. Wankie loved reading her Bible as well as doing word puzzles. Alma was preceded in death by her father, Jimmie Ratcliff; her adoptive father, Albert Broomfield; her maternal grandparents, Albert and Bertha Brown; and her sister, Glenda Jean Broomfield. Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Robert Earl Lewis; 2 brothers, Alvin Culberson and A. Charles Broomfield; 3 sisters, Alice Faye Crandle, Monday Holloway, and Renee Broomfield; 4 children, Valentina (Chris) Simmons, Foxie Broomfield, Jerrod Broomfield, and Tiffonae (Chad) Coleman; 3 bonus children, Ronald (Rebecca) Harper, Changela Moore and Chrsynthia Wright; 18 grandchildren, Christopher (Ashley) Bolton, Cheyona Broomfield, Aa’Laisha Rigsby, Aa’darrius Rigsby, RaShawn (Asia) Simmons, Cederius Martin, Detrique Broomfield, Joshua Simmons, Anecia Flewellen, Charisma Coleman, Armanii Wright, T’Zyonne Coleman, Kye Coleman, Amiracle Wright, Avant Wright, Synciere Coleman, Deestiny Wright, and D’Lylah Coleman; 6 great grandchildren; 10 nieces and nephews, Eric Fairley, Jermaine Daggens, Cedric Crandle, Tuesday Holloway, Damien Crandle, Courtney Crandle, Wayne Jackson, William Broomfield, Whitley Smith, and Carnesha Broomfield; a longtime friend, Shirley Neighbors; and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 26, 2021, at 9:30 am, at Infinity Funeral Home. Visitation will start one hour earlier.
