Albert Reed Jr.

Albert Reed Jr., age 95, a lifelong resident of Vancleave, Mississippi, peacefully passed away on June 4, 2026, at Biloxi Regional Hospital with his loving family by his side.

Born on December 9, 1930, in the historic Greenhead, kindred community of Vancleave, Mississippi, Albert was the beloved only son of Albert Reed Sr. and Delia Reed. Throughout his long and distinguished life, he exemplified faith, leadership, integrity, and service to his family, church, and community.

Albert devoted more than fifty years of dedicated service to Ingalls Shipbuilding, where he rose to the position of shift supervisor and earned the respect of colleagues through his strong work ethic, wisdom, and commitment to excellence. His professional accomplishments were matched by his unwavering devotion to his faith, family, and community.

A man of deep spiritual conviction, Albert served faithfully on the Church Board as a Deacon and Sunday School teacher, guiding and mentoring generations of men in both faith and character. He was an active member of Good Hope Baptist Church in Vancleave, where he served as President of the Male Choir and shared his love of music with all who worshiped alongside him. In addition, he was a proud lead tenor of the Silver Bells Quartet, bringing joy and inspiration through song.

Albert was a proud member of William Cooper Lodge No. 286 and later attained the distinguished honor of becoming a 33rd Degree Mason. Throughout his life, he embodied the principles of brotherhood, charity, and service. He was widely known for his dignity, impeccable style, and gentlemanly manner. He believed that how a person presented themselves reflected self-respect and discipline, and he took great pride in teaching young men the importance of dressing well, carrying themselves with confidence, and conducting their lives with honor.

Born and raised in the segregated South, Albert witnessed tremendous changes throughout his 95 years. Through perseverance, faith, and determination, he became a respected leader, mentor, and example to those who followed him. His wisdom, strength of character, and steady guidance left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of fifty years, Rosemary Reed; his parents, Albert and Delia Reed; his sister, Cora Evans; his sons, Sidney Earl Reed, Anthony Mitchell, and William Gerald Mitchell; and his granddaughter, Undrelle Reed.

Albert leaves to cherish his memory his loving sisters: Joyce Burch of Gautier, Mississippi, and Fort Worth, Texas; Sharon Reed of Gautier, Mississippi; and Andrea Reed of Gautier, Mississippi; his daughters, Susie Marie Jenkins of Gautier, Mississippi, and Marie Dunn of Snellville, Georgia; along with nine grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; extended family members, cousins, church family, and dear friends whose lives were enriched by his wisdom, kindness, and example.

Albert Reed Jr. leaves behind a legacy of faith, leadership, service, music, mentorship, and family devotion. His life was a testament to perseverance, dignity, and grace. He touched countless lives through his work, ministry, Masonic service, musical gifts, and unwavering commitment to helping others reach their fullest potential.

Though he will be deeply missed, his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. His example will continue to inspire future generations to walk with faith, serve with humility, and live with honor.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at 11:00 am, at Good Hope Baptist Church.  Visitation will start at 10:00 am.  There will be a Wake on Friday, June 12, 2026, from 5:00pm to 7:00pm, at Infinity Funeral Home.
