Vanessa Cecilia Dean York was born April 10, 1961 in Mobile, Alabama and resided in Gulfport, MS for the last 24 years. She made her transition gracefully on Thursday, May 9, 2013 at Memorial hospital in Gulfport, MS. She graduated from W. P. Davidson High School, attended Talladega College for the Deaf and Blind. She received an Associate Degree in Accounting from Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College. Vanessa was united in Holy Matrimony to Larry York on February 14, 1988. In this union they had two children. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hayward Dean Jr. and Wilhelmenia Dean Hardy, and a stepfather, Willie E. Hardy Jr.; Two brothers, Bruce and Hayward Dean III; Great-grandparents, Leonard (Mary) Mitchell Sr.; Grandparents, Hayward Dean Sr., and Ardell Dean Bryers, Arthella Mitchell; three aunts, Ida Dixon, Camilla Jones, and ShirleySmith.Oneuncle,HowardDean. She leaves to cherish her loving memories a devoted husband, Larry York, one daughter, Valerie Nicole Dean, one son Cavinaugh L. York. One granddaughter, Kennedy A. Robinson; five sisters, Yolanda (Darryl) Cheese Sr., Tameka Hardy, Camellia Hardy, Latrice Blackmon all of Mobile, AL; Karen (Dominic) Stewart Fort Benning, GA; four brothers, Larry (Sheila) Dean of Virginia Beach, VA; Thaddeus(Betty) Dean, of Mobile, AL; Kirt and Rayfield Hardy of Reynoldsburg, OH; a loving and devoted grandmother, Jane J. Mitchell of Chatom, AL; father-in-law and mother-in-law Walter (Ruth) York deceased; Two brother-in-laws, Marion (Cynthia) York, Whistler, AL; and one deceased; four sister-in-laws, Sharon (William) Davis, Dallas, TX; Sheila (Willie) Adams, Eight Mile, AL; Rita (James) Lampkins, Chicago, IL; one deceased. Host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 17, 2013 at Greater Grace Apostolic Assembly, 394 Forrest Avenue, Biloxi, MS 39530, Visitation from 12 noon until 1:00pm with services immediately following. Bishop Rick August officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, 28th Street, Gulfport, MS 39501. In Lieu of flowers, it has been requested that all donations be made to the family.
