Click Link to View Mrs. Ruby Bradford's Service Live: clickhere to view service. Ruby Phillip Webb Bradford was born in Atlanta, GA on October 28, 1917, to Rev. Charles Marshall Webb and Mrs. Janie Gertrude Webb. She graduated from Oak Park High School in Laurel, MS and went on to attend Rust College before transferring to Clark University in Atlanta, GA. Ruby went on to receive her BA in Economics from Samuel Houston College and later earned her Master�s in Education from New Mexico State University. Her further studies included management, counseling, guidance and law at MS Gulf Coast Community College and at the University of Southern Miss. Ruby�s broad wealth of talents and skills spanned over 15 various positions. During her early years she taught at Thirty-third Avenue High School and later served as secretary to the President of Alcorn State University. While at Alcorn, she met and married her wonderful husband, Vernon Bradford. After graduating from college, Mr. and Mrs. Bradford settled on the Mississippi Gulf Coast to raise their family. After years of zealous dedication at Keesler Air Force Base, Mrs. Bradford was promoted to a position with the Civilian Personnel Department and ultimately became Chief of EEOC. She served faithfully in this position for many years before her retirement. Always willing to occupy her time, Mrs. Bradford was employed with Dillard�s Department Store at Edgewater Mall in Biloxi. Among her many accomplishments, Ruby was the recipient of the Air Force Distinguished EEO Award and the Air Training Command Distinguished EEO Award. She assisted many students with achieving their educational goals by providing them room and board in her home throughout their work study at Keesler Air Force Base. Ruby was member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Biloxi, MS. She served as chairperson of the Pension Crusade and the Commission of Stewardship, Secretary of Finance, President and Founder of the Boys and Girls. She was a member and held several positions in the following organizations: Modern Women�s Federated Club, American Association of University Women, Biloxi Chapter of NAACP, and the Widow�s Club. Mrs. Bradford served numerous terms on the Board of Mercy Housing before being named an honorary board member. Mrs. Ruby Webb Bradford was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one son, Vernon "Chris" Bradford. She leaves to honor her memory, one son, Lt. Colonel (Ret.) Phillip A. McLaurin of Belleville, IL; daughter, Veronica Bradford Evans of San Berardino, CA; five grandchildren: Phillip McLaurin of Belleville, IL, Arthur (Sonny) Evans of Redlands, CA, Vernon Bradford of D�Iberville, MS, Andre Evans of Irvine, CA and Malissa McLaurin; seven great-grandchildren: Austin Evans, Christia Bradford, Taylor Delahooussaye, Alexandria (Lexy) Evans, Alicia Fairley, Phillip (PJ) McLaurin, Jr., and Chrysten Bradford. A wake will be held Thursday, April 2, 2015 at Richmond-August Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held Friday, April 3, 2015, at Greater St John AME Church, 551 Division Street, Biloxi, MS 39530. Viewing will begin at 9:00 a.m. and service will immediately follow at 10:00 a.m. Those unable to attend the service may view the proceedings live from 10:00 a.m. until service completion at www.richmondaugustfh.com.
