Ezekiel Sims, Jr.

Ezekiel Sims Jr., (Shorty), 70, passed away on Friday, August 13, 2021at St. Joseph Hospice. He was born on March 12, 1951, in Edwards, MS to Ezekiel Sims Sr. and Sallie Mae (Flowers) Sims. Ezekiel grew up in Edwards, MS. He attended Edwards Jr. High School. He then began working for BFI as a Truck Driver for 19 years. He moved on to CTA where he worked for 5 years until he encounters health problems. Ezekiel met Virginia in 1974 and got married on his birthday on March 12, 1975. They were happily married for 46 years. Ezekiel was a member of Infinity Church The Apostolic Assembly for 27 years and was a Bus Driver. He enjoyed fishing, playing his guitar, spending time outside enjoying nature, gardening, and spending time with his family. Ezekiel (Shorty), was preceded in death by his parents Ezekiel Sr., and Sallie Mae (Flowers) Sims; grandparents Sam Sims, Leander Jones, Eli Flowers, Pearline Flowers, and his sister Pearlina Carter. Ezekiel (Shorty) is survived by his spouse Virginia Sims of Gulfport, MS; his sister Carrie (Henry) Selvy of Edwards MS, his brother Lee Dale (Dorothy) Sims of Edwards MS; his daughter Regina Bates (Sunny) of Champaign, IL; his sons Timothy Sr. (Remona) Sims of Gulfport, MS; Tommie Sims of Gulfport, MS; his daughter Charlotte Sims of Gulfport, MS; grandchildren (11), Demareo Warren, Quantarius Warren, Rayonna Warren, Devin Lindsey, Dayshawn Bates of Champaign, IL, Dominique Sims, Daishai Sims, Timothy Sims Jr., Undrelle Reed of Gulfport, MS; his great-grandchildren (19); and his loving nieces, nephews, and numerous of other relatives and friends. A memorial service will be held at Infinity Church, on August, Monday 23, 2021, at 12:00 pm. Visitation will start at 11:00 am.
