Bishop Myles Smith, Jr.

Bishop Myles Smith Jr., 78, a resident of Gulfport, MS, passed away peacefully, July 10, 2020 at Memorial Hospital in Gulfport, MS. He was born in Parkin, Arkansas May 16, 1942, the son of Myles Smith Jr. and Essie Mae Smith. Myles attended Parkin High School and received diploma and studied Business at Cleveland State University . He received a Certificate of Completion from the U.S. Small Business Administration on September, 26, 2010. Myles was married to Dorothy Berry on July 11, 1983. Myles spent his working career in Myles Smith INC. working in various business ventures. Bishop Smith founded Homes for American Veterans Association LLC and Crusades for All Nations. He spent many years volunteering his time and crafts toward these organizations. Bishop Smith was very family and community oriented and loved talking to everyone he met. He was an avid believer and supporter for helping the less fortunate veterans that served our land and nation. He was awarded the Ambassador for Peace from The Universal Peace Federation and the Interreligious and International Federation for World Peace. He received his Certificate of License into The Gospel Ministry in 2001. He was the founder and Bishop of Sunlight Cathedral Ministry in Washington, D.C. Myles was preceded in death by his parents Myles Smith Sr. and Essie Mae Smith; Nathaniel Smith, Joann Smith, Betty Smith; one son, David Smith. Bishop Myles Smith is survived by his precious wife, Dorothy Smith; (9) brothers: James Smith, Willie Smith, Equal Smith, Bobby Smith,Calvin Smith, Charles Smith, Eugene Smith, Micheal Smith and Jerry Smith (7) sisters: Elizabeth Cantrel, Shirley Smith, Charlene Smith, Parscilla Smith, Pearl Smith, Earnestine Smith, and Joyce Smith; (2) sons: Corey Trussell of Denver CO. and Myrus Smith of Baton Rouge LA; (6) daughters, Terri of Ohio, Wilene Jennings of TN, Chris Taylor-Smith, Nikki Taylor-Smith Tuscaloosa AL, Sharbrea Smith of Gulfport, MS, Shallon Smith of Huntsville, AL. 15 grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services for Bishop Myles Smith Jr. will be held Wednesday July 22, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Infinity Funeral Home.
